From September 1, 2025, there will once again be many hub connections via Munich
The next milestone has now been reached: From September 1, 2025, many connections to destinations around the world will once again be available for booking from Paderborn/Lippstadt Airport via the Munich hub, with convenient through-check-in for baggage. This is made possible by the interline agreement that DAT, the airline commissioned by skyhub PAD, has concluded with Lufthansa.
For several weeks now, the skyhub PAD initiative, which is unique in Germany and was made possible by the strong commitment of entrepreneurs and private individuals from the region, has been offering up to three flights a day from Paderborn/Lippstadt to Munich and back (Monday to Friday and Sunday). In addition to direct connections to the Bavarian metropolis (point-to-point), hub connections with through-checked baggage can now also be booked via Lufthansa, flight portals, and travel agencies.
‘This means we have achieved all our goals ahead of the start of flight operations on 1 September 2025. We would like to express our sincere thanks to those responsible at DAT and Lufthansa, whose tremendous dedication and excellent cooperation made the interline agreement possible,’ emphasises Christoph Plass, Chairman of the Advisory Board of skyhub PAD. Managing Director Klaus Marx adds: ‘This is a great success. Thanks to the interline agreement between DAT and Lufthansa, we now have the best chance of making skyhub PAD’s business model a success.’
After the Munich route was discontinued at the end of May 2025, an initiative of entrepreneurs and private individuals came together in autumn 2024 to continue the route, which is particularly important for the local economy. In March, skyhub PAD GmbH & Co. KG was founded to provide the start-up capital. One month later, skyhub PAD signed a contract with DAT, which will operate the flights. Shortly afterwards, the point-to-point connections became available for booking. Interlining is now the final step in the offering.
From Paderborn/Lippstadt, flights will depart at 7:00 a.m. (arrival: 8:25 a.m.), 1:55 p.m. (arrival: 3:20 p.m.) and 6:30 p.m. (7:55 p.m.) starting on 1 September 2025. These flight times ensure optimal connectivity in Munich to many connecting flights around the world, especially to the USA and Asia. Flights from Munich to Paderborn/Lippstadt depart at 9:00 a.m. (arrival: 10:30 a.m.), 4.10 p.m. (arrival: 5.35 p.m.) and 8.35 p.m. (arrival: 10 p.m.).
DAT will operate the flights between Paderborn/Lippstadt and Munich with an ATR72-600, which offers 72 comfortable seats. This is a particularly quiet and efficient turboprop aircraft that has been specially developed for shorter routes. Thanks to state-of-the-art technology, these aircraft are not only comfortable to fly in, but also more climate-friendly than conventional jets.
