skyhub PAD to launch continuation of important connection on 1 September 2025
All the key facts are now in place: in cooperation with the airline DAT, skyhub PAD GmbH & Co. KG will be offering up to three flights a day from Paderborn/Lippstadt to Munich and back (Monday to Friday and Sundays) from 1 September 2025. Direct connections (point-to-point) can now be booked online. Once DAT has finalised the interlining agreement with Lufthansa, hub connections will also be possible, allowing passengers to conveniently check their luggage through.
Following the termination of the connection to Munich at the end of May 2025, an initiative of entrepreneurs and private individuals came together in autumn 2024 to continue the route, which is particularly important for the local economy. In March, skyhub PAD GmbH & Co. KG was founded to provide the start-up capital. One month later, skyhub PAD signed a contract with DAT, which will operate the flights. Shortly afterwards, the flight times were also finalised.
From Paderborn/Lippstadt, flights will depart at 7:00 a.m. (arrival: 8:25 a.m.), 1:55 p.m. (arrival: 3:20 p.m.) and 6:30 p.m. (7:55 p.m.) starting on 1 September 2025. These flight times ensure optimal connectivity in Munich to many connecting flights around the world, especially to the USA and Asia. In the opposite direction, flights depart at 9:00 a.m. (arrival: 10:30 a.m.), 4:10 p.m. (arrival: 5:35 p.m.) and 8:35 p.m. (arrival: 10:00 p.m.). Flights to and from Munich can now be booked online at www.skyhub-pad.de and www.dat.dk. skyhub PAD expects hub connections to be available for booking in June 2025.
We are very satisfied with the progress made so far and the results achieved. After all, there is no model for our business model, so we had to work out all the details ourselves. My sincere thanks go to all the shareholders of skyhub PAD GmbH & Co. KG for their trust, to DAT and Lufthansa for their exemplary support, and to my colleagues involved in the operational implementation. We have already invested many hundreds of hours in this project, and now the pioneering work is paying off. Soon, our region will once again be connected to the Munich hub, with up to three flights per day from the outset,” explains Christoph Plass, who has also driven the project forward with great commitment in his role as Vice-President of the East Westphalia Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) in Bielefeld and chairs the advisory board of skyhub PAD GmbH & Co. KG.
DAT will operate flights between Paderborn/Lippstadt and Munich with an ATR72-600, which offers 70 comfortable seats. “This is a particularly quiet and efficient turboprop aircraft that has been specially developed for shorter routes. Thanks to state-of-the-art technology, these aircraft are not only comfortable to fly in, but also more climate-friendly than conventional jets,” emphasises Klaus Marx, Managing Director of skyhub PAD GmbH & Co. KG. Due to high demand, the company expects the first connections to be booked quickly. Fares start at £149 including taxes and fees for a one-way trip.
Together with DAT, skyhub PAD is working intensively on finalising the interlining agreement with Lufthansa in order to make it even more convenient to connect the region to the rest of the world. As soon as this date has been set, skyhub PAD will inform the public accordingly.
